Maggie Proctor gets 50th career win as SHS Women's Tennis advances to second round of state

Congratulations to the Statesboro High Girls Tennis team on defeating the Tucker Tigers 4-0 in the first round of the State Playoffs on Tuesday afternoon. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Naomi Feltman got the Lady Devils on the board first with a dominating 6-0,6-0 win at first singles.
  • Lindsay Collins and Annalia Small continued their fine play at second doubles as they rolled to a 6-0,6-0 victory. 
  • Maggie Proctor and Jolee Jordan then clinched the victory with a 6-0,6-1 victory at first doubles.  
  • Anna Washington then won at second doubles 6-1,6-3 
  • Ada Lacienski was up 6-0,3-0 when the match was called.  

Maggie Proctor picked up her 50th career win in the match against the Lady Tigers. The hard work she has shown this past year and season has made her into a great doubles player.

“I am really proud of how the girls are competing at all five lines right now, " coach Brian Hall said. “I feel like they are working really hard at practice each day to get better and we are playing our best tennis of the season and I am looking forward to another week to prepare for the Sweet 16.”

UP NEXT

This is the 4th year in a row that the Lady Devils have advanced past the first round of State.  Statesboro will travel to Union Grove on Tuesday, April 23, to face the one-seeded Wolverines out of Region two.
