Claxton, Baker named All-Sun Belt Conference for golf

Parker Claxton and Brantley Baker earned All-Sun Belt accolades in a vote by the league's 14 head coaches, the conference announced today.

Claxton, a junior from Claxton, Georgia, earned first-team all-conference honors for the first time in his career. He made the second team as a freshman and the third team last year, making him the fourth Eagle in program history to be a three-team All-Sun Belt selection. His season scoring average is 71.31, coming in 32 rounds, which is the 11th-lowest in program history. He took runner-up honors at the Thomas Sharkey Individual Collegiate, shooting a 208 (-8) and tied for third at the Schenkel Invitational with a 210 (-6). Claxton recorded three top-five finishes and seven top-20 finishes.

Baker, a senior from Leesburg, Georgia, earned second-team honors. The co-team captain had a season scoring average was 72.48, coming in 29 rounds. He tied for third at the Sun Belt Championship, shooting a 211 (-5) and recorded six top-20 finishes. Baker shot par or better in 16 rounds and four tournaments and 21 of his 26 rounds were counted. He tallied 89 birdies, along with an eagle and 322 pars, all team highs.
