The Bulloch Academy Gators chomped up the George Walton Academy Bulldogs 35 to 0. The number two ranked gators will be moving on to the semi-finals of the GIAA Class 4A Football Championships.
The Bulloch Academy Gators (10-0) hosted the George Walton Academy Bulldogs (7-4) in the quarterfinals of the GIAA Class 4A Football Championships. Despite having a week off, Bulloch Academy showed no rust in their first game of the postseason.
The Gators dominated the line of scrimmage as their rushing attack led the way for this blowout victory. Running backs Danye Garvin and Isaiah Smart each scored two touchdowns on the ground.
Senior Isaiah Smart put the finishing touches on the game when he scampered to the endzone for a 35-yard touchdown midway through the fourth quarter to put the Gators up 35-0. The Bulloch Academy defense also stood strong as Sam Hubbard picked off a pass on the final play of the game to solidify the shutout.
After going into the half up 21-0, the Gators kept their foot on the Bulldogs’ neck. Sophomore Danye Garvin bulldozed through the defense to put the Bulloch Academy up 28-0 early in the third quarter.
Garvin’s first trip to the endzone came early in the second quarter by way of a 5-yard rushing touchdown. The Bulloch Academy defense made a statement early in the game with an interception by senior Hunter Davis-Pressley. The defense also forced a turnover on downs with three straight tackles for losses after the Bulldogs reached the Gators’ 7-yard line.
The party started early for Bulloch Academy as they scored on their first two drives with rushing touchdowns by senior quarterback Ben Aaron and Isaiah Smart to take a commanding 14-0 lead.
Next week, the Bulloch Academy Gators will host the sixth-seeded Brookstone Cougars in the semi-finals of the GIAA 4A Football Championships.
Brookstone squeezed out a 13-10 victory against St. Anne Pacelli by way of a game winning field goal as the time expired.
The Gators will look to take the momentum from this game and carry it to their next matchup.
