The Bible Baptist Christian Wolves put on a show Friday night. The boys' team secured a 69-60, victory, while the girls' team fought hard but fell short 52-27, against the Coastal Homeschool Hurricanes. The night was filled with excitement, emotional moments, and stellar performances from the seniors playing their final home game.
The Wolves' girls' team came out strong, setting the tone early with great hustle and rebounding. Their defensive effort and fast-paced play kept them in the game, but by halftime, the scoreboard read 31-21 in favor of the Hurricanes.
In the second half, the Wolves continued to fight, but the Hurricanes maintained control and extended their lead. Despite a valiant effort from the Wolves, the outcome was a 52-27 loss. Leading the charge for the Wolves was #14, Takeithra Hanna, who had an outstanding game with multiple rebounds and key baskets. Her presence in the paint was instrumental in keeping the team competitive.
Coach Parker Reagin praised the team's effort but noted that the second half was more of a mental challenge. "Good effort. In the second half, it was more mental than anything," he said.
The boys' team followed up with an impressive performance. From the opening tip, #0 Stephen Rahming was relentless, driving to the basket and securing key rebounds. Meanwhile, #40 JaQuayvion Gilmore showcased his composure at the free-throw line, consistently knocking down his shots. By halftime, the Wolves had built a strong lead, going into the locker room up 38-20.
The second half saw even more energy from the Wolves. The night's defining moment came with just 2:30 left in the game when the crowd gave a standing ovation as the senior players were subbed out for the final time. The Wolves closed out the game with a 69-60 victory. Rahming and Gilmore led the way with impressive offensive and defensive plays. The team's ability to execute under pressure and maintain discipline throughout the game was key to their success.
Coach Rosby Anderson commended his team for their execution and effort. "Executed well. They played well. It was emotional because it was the seniors' last game. But the discipline was there," he said.
The night was even more special as the Wolves honored their seniors in a heartfelt pre-game ceremony. Each senior wrote a tribute to mark the end of their high school basketball journey. The girls' team received custom basketballs, balloons featuring their numbers, and gift bags, while the boys' team received crowns and gift bags with snacks and drinks.
