Weyman E. Smoak, 77, of Appling, passed away in Evans, GA, on Friday, January 6th.
Born to the late William Laure and Verdie Mae Smoak, he was a native of Screven County and a member of the Newington United Methodist Church.
He was a construction and maintenance worker for many years and retired from Screven County Hospital in 2000. He knew the Lord, Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior and was excited to meet him face to face.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Smoak, his parents, his parents-in-law, Thomas Mead and Grace Herrington and sister and brother-in-law, Gracie and Emmett Boddiford.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Angie & Jerald Lee of Newington, GA; son and daughter-in-law, DeWayne and Andrea Smoak of Evans, GA, sisters, Brenda Scott (Donald), Linda Duensing (Hal) and Debby Lovett (Donnie), four grandchildren, Avery and Lane Smoak, and Ed and Madison Lee, a special lifetime family friend, Billie Boykin, and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, January 9, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Newington United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Karen Zeigler officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2:00 with burial to follow in the Newington City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jerald Lee, Ed Lee, Don Boykin, Kris Boykin, Derrick Boddiford and Erich Williams.
