January 8, 1956 - May 31, 2025
Sharon Ann (Crosby) Currie, 69, of Savannah, GA passed to new life on Saturday, May 31, 2025 surrounded by her husband and daughters. Albeit too short, Sharon led a well-lived life.
Sharon was born to Arthur J. Crosby and Betty C. (Rentz) Selph on January 8, 1956. Anyone who knew Sharon, knew her to be a social butterfly, never meeting a stranger. Her favorite parts of life were her devoted husband, Doug, spending time with her kids and grandkids, meeting new people and serving those she loved, often leaning into the role of care taker, offering love and support when and where needed.
Though Sharon worked during her lifetime, and loved her time at the Mulberry Inn located in downtown Savannah, it did not define who she was. What defines Sharon is the way in which she loved her husband, children and grandchildren. Though many of her favorite people lived at a distance, Sharon always had a card in the mail and never forgot to call on birthdays and other special occasions or holidays. She will be remembered for the way she made family dinners an event, ensuring everyone had their favorite part of the Thanksgiving feast on the table.
She will be remembered for the way she listened with a kind and patient ear, never judging or interrupting. Sharon laughed with you when sharing in times of joy and cried when those closest to her were experiencing pain. Birthdays were something to be celebrated and she always made sure you had your favorite cake and knew it was your day. Her grandkids remember her beautiful scent, delicious banana pudding, the special no bake cookies made and the patience she showed in allowing them to help in the kitchen.
They remember her visits and how she brought McDonald’s to school for their lunch because Nana was in town and she wanted them to feel special. She passed on a great love of decorating for Christmas, classic Christmas movies and music, her husband recalling the days it took to decorate the tree in order to reach perfection. Life was not always easy for Sharon, but she always walked with her head held high, kept poised, never uttering a bad word and always living for the people around her, particularly her husband whom she loved very much.
Sharon’s legacy is in who she was and how she lives on in the people who were loved by her. She was one of the most tender-hearted, strongest women we have known. These special traits will live on in the laughter, sass, strength and empathetic characteristics of her daughters and grandchildren. 69 years was not enough.
Sharon is survived by her loving husband, Douglas Currie of Savannah, GA; four daughters Stephanie (Paul), Jennifer (Jeremy), Christina (Chrissy), Jessi and a son, Andrew; seven grandchildren Hannah, Emily, Adaline, Neyland, Grace, Jack and Alexandra. Sharon is preceded in death by her parents AJ Crosby and Betty Selph as well as her brother Anthony (Tony) Crosby.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
