October 20, 2015 – May 27, 2025
It is with deep sorrow that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of Emily Grace Mayo, who was taken from us far too soon on May 27, 2025, at just nine years old. Born on October 20, 2015, in Statesboro, Georgia, Emily was a beloved student at Brooklet Elementary School in Brooklet, Georgia.
Emily was a vibrant and joyful girl whose spirit radiated warmth to all those around her. Her infectious smile and kind heart touched countless lives during her brief time with us. Her memory will be cherished forever by her family and everyone fortunate enough to have known her. Although we mourn her sudden departure, we find solace in the beautiful moments we shared and the love she so freely gave.
To know Emily was to love her; her smile could light up any room. She had a unique ability to connect with others, never meeting a stranger, and she delighted in making people laugh. As a rising 4th grader at Brooklet Elementary, Emily received numerous academic and personality awards, including the “Future Influencer” Award, recognizing her infectious positivity and remarkable attitude. She loved to dance and sing, often spending her time outside or chatting on the phone with her cousins and friends. She loved to upload those dancing videos to her Gamma’s Instagram account. Her favorite color was blue, and her favorite saying was “slay.” Our hearts are heavy with this tragic loss. There are just not enough words to capture this beautiful soul.
