Dr. John Julius Riggs

August 4, 1943 - August 10, 2022

Dr. John Julius Riggs, left this world peacefully on Wednesday, August 10, 2022.  He was born August 1943 to the late Marvin Riggs, Sr. and Lucille Bradshaw Riggs in Bulloch County, Georgia.

He was an Alumnus of both Sol C. Johnson High School and Savannah State College (now University) and hailed a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Howard University College of Medicine.

Upon receiving his PhD he was employed as a professor of Chemistry in the department of Veterinary Medicine at Tuskegee Institute, Tuskegee, Alabama (now University) from 1980-1983. He was retired from the State of Georgia District Four Health Services, LaGrange, Georgia where he was a Disease Coordinator specializing in Epidemiology. 

Dr. Riggs leaves to cherish fond memories, four children, two daughters, Kamesha Riggs, Carrollton, GA and Courtney Riggs, Douglasville, GA and two sons, Hassan Riggs (Ashley), Washington, DC and Marcus Riggs, Germany; one brother, Norman (Debra) Riggs, Sr.; several nieces, April, Valencia, Marcia Lynn, Alexsa, Norma, Kellie, Sarena, Shanika and LaToya; nephews,  Todd (Grace), Stanley (Vera), Remeo, Mark (Dewi), Eric (Edith), Heru (Julia), Norman, Jr, Alvin, Jimmy, Michael (Tasha) and Steve, Jr.  several great nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.  

As were the wishes of Dr. Riggs final disposition was via cremation.
