Dorothy Thompson Lively Sussmann

Mrs. Dorothy Thompson Lively Sussmann, age 83, died at Saturday, April 15, 2023, at her residence under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. Dorothy was born in Statesboro to the late Ed Thompson and Lois Bunch Thompson in 1940. She has lived in Twin City for the last seven years and had previously lived in Florida for four years with her late husband. Before moving to Florida, she was a lifelong resident of Bulloch County. She loved spending time with her family and gardening. Dorothy was a member of Temple Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, William Lively and second husband, Richard Sussmann, as well as a son, Ricky Lively.

Dorothy is survived by her three children, Judy (Roy) Land of Griffin, Brenda (Richard) Harrelson of Twin City, and David (Angie) Lively of Statesboro; two sisters, Hilda (Lavert) Chance of Guyton and Ruth Carter; two brothers, Ralph (Jackie) Thompson and Edward Thompson; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; as well as a special sister-in-law, Betty Rucker of South Carolina.

The family will receive visitors on Wednesday from 1:00 until 2:00pm in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.

The funeral will be at 2:00pm in the chapel with Rev. Thomas Green officiating.

Burial will follow at Union United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Joshua Fulmer, Matthew Fulmer, Brandon Lively, and Rod Carter.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, PO Box 531, Statesboro, GA 30459.
