Deacon Joseph Lee Daughtry, the family and all who knew him referred to Joseph as "Jeff" passed on Saturday February 8, 2025 at Sarasota Point Rehabilitation center in Sarasota Florida. He was born on July 31, 1931 in Manassas, Georgia to the late Alice and Clamon Daughtry who preceded him in death.
As an infant he was reared by his loving mother Alice and stepfather Willie Porter Sr. In his early years he was educated in Bulloch County school systems. In his later years he moved to Sarasota, Florida where he worked as a landscaper for over 40 years.
He was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Isora Daughtry and Bertha Daughtry who preceded him in death. He was also united in Holy Matrimony to Pearlie Johnson Daughtry.
Deacon Daughtry accepted Christ at an early age and was ordained as a deacon for over 60 years at New Bethel Missionary Baptist church in Sarasota, Florida by the late Rev. Grimsley where he served until his death.
He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Pearlie Mae Johnson-Daughtry of Sarasota, FL; Daughters: Alexandria Porter of St. Petersburg, FL and Krystal Daughtry of Brandon, FL; Sons: Antony (Kim) Parker of Buffalo, N.Y., Stanley Daughtry of Sarasota, FL and Joseph (Ann) Daughtry Jr. of Bradenton, FL; Sisters: Florecilla P. Lemon of Sarasota, FL and Willie Mae Wilbon of Statesboro, GA; Brothers: Emmitt (Shirley) Porter of Bradenton, FL, Rev. Dr. J. L. Porter of North Port, FL, Charles (Ann) Porter of Apollo Beach, FL and Richard Porter of Pembroke, GA; Stepdaughter: Christine Jones of Sarasota FL; Stepson-in-law: Rev. A. L. Phillips of Sarasota, FL; 22 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and host of nieces, nephew and other relatives.
He proceeded in death by his stepchildren: Sheryl, Ernest and Cynthia Solomon, Siblings: Sisters: Tearessie Mungin, Pauline McCollum, Valriee Moore, and Juanita Bulloch, Brothers: Clarence, Dennis, Willie Jr. and Randy Porter.
Visitation will be held from 5:00pm-7:00pm on Sunday, Feb. 23, 2025, at Hill's Mortuary, Inc. Burial will be at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery Register, GA.
