Mr. Arthur Lee Gordon, age 80, entered rest, Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at his home in Portal, Georgia.
He was born March 27, 1944, in Screven County, Georgia to the late Mr. Eddie, Sr. and Annie Mae Long Gordon. He left school at an early age to work on the farm to help support his family.
Mr. Gordon operated a successful concrete construction business until his health no longer allowed him to work. He was one of the few African Americans in the concrete business within Bulloch County, Georgia in the late 80s.
Arthur Lee Gordon was joined in holy matrimony to the late Everdell Bush, to their union one daughter was born. He later married the late Earis Sampson and had one son. On May 28, 2005, he was joined in holy matrimony to the late Janie Laveine Gordon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Leon, Eddie, Jr., and John Willie Gordon, and his sister Margie Gordon Denson; adopted sisters Elease King, Delores Fitzgerald, and Nora Bell Smith.
He leaves to cherish his memories, a daughter, Rosalee (Wendell) Faison, Bradenton, FL; son, Danny Lee (Alina) Gordon, McDonough, GA; three granddaughters, Tiffany, Deidra, and Kay Larkins; one grandson, Dyllon M. Gordon; six great grandchildren; a brother, John Jerry Gordon, Sylvania, GA; three adopted sisters, Josephine Weaver, Beatrice Bowers, and Leola Wright; one adopted brother, Michael Hill; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
The funeral service for Mr. Arthur Lee Gordon, will be held, 10 a.m., Saturday, July 22, 2023, at the Springhead United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Paul Benton, officiating, burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Final rites have been entrusted to Hill's Mortuary, Inc.
