Traffic shift on I-95 south starts next week

As part of the bridge maintenance project, L. C. Whitford Co., Inc. will be shifting all three lanes of traffic east (left) utilizing the inside shoulder on I-95 South at Exit 87 interchange bridge over US 17 beginning Tuesday, August 5 as part of the overall project’s maintenance staging plans.

Even though traffic will be maintained during this work, motorists should expect major travel delays on August 3 and 4 while the contractor is modifying striping to accommodate the traffic shift. Overnight August 4, double lane closure must occur to implement  the traffic shift.  All work is weather contingent.

Overnight Friday, August 15 the traffic shift will be reduced to two lanes continuing through the weekend until Monday, August 18 to complete the remaining bridge maintenance work that is necessary for the longevity of the bridge’s lifespan.

Motorists are reminded that this is a WORK ZONE and are advised to obey reduced speed limits and exercise extreme caution travelling through this area. Message signs, barrels and/or cones will be utilized to alert the public of the upcoming changes. Drivers should be aware that personnel and equipment will be operating in close proximity to travel lanes.
