Statesboro Police Department (SPD) responded to a shooting in front of Madison Meadows apartments on Packinghouse Road in the city around 2 PM Sunday, May 16, 2021. Bulloch 911 reported a shooting in the area and reports of at least one person being shot.
When Statesboro Police and Bulloch EMS arrived on the scene they determined that one victim had been taken to EGRMC by car with an unknown condition. Officers on the scene were unable to locate any additional possible gunshot victims at the scene.
Grice Connect received messages from residents who lived in the area that heard the gunshots and then sirens and wondered what was happening in their neighborhood. One GC follower described hearing multiple gunshots that sounded as though an exchange of gun fire took place.
A Bulloch County Sherriff K-9 unit responded to the scene and began tracking suspects believed to be connected to the shooting that fled the scene on foot. Moments later they located two black male's matching descriptions given in a lookout for possible individuals involved in the shooting. They were tracked to a location in Eastside Cemetery that backs up to Packinghouse Road. We understand both men were taken to the Bulloch County jail for questioning.
