Reminder: GSU School of Accountancy offering annual free income tax assistance

Free tax preparation services will begin Monday, January 29, 2024.

For the fifth year in a row, the School of Accountancy at Georgia Southern University and the IRS have partnered to bring the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) to the local community.

This is an annual partnership to provide free individual income tax preparation and e-file services to taxpayers. All tax returns are prepared and reviewed by accounting students and faculty who are IRS VITA certified. The service is generally available to taxpayers with a household income of $79,000 or less.

Upcoming dates for the free tax preparation services include:

  • Monday, March 18 (10am-12:30pm)
  • Monday, March 25 (10am-12:30pm)
  • Monday, April 1 (10am-12:30pm)

All services take place at the Georgia Southern City Campus at 58 E. Main St. in downtown Statesboro.

Appointments are not available, as the service is provided first-come, first-served.
