A born-and-raised Statesboro resident is making her mark on the music world with an upcoming concert on Saturday, July 12, 2025, in Evans, Georgia, opening for Anne Wilson—an opportunity she’s worked tirelessly to achieve, putting her passion, dedication and heart on full-display the moment she steps into the stage light.
Rachel Wiggins, who works full-time at Davis Marketing Company, will perform a couple songs at the 2,000 to 4,000 seat venue, with tickets ranging from $50 to $200 depending on seat placement.
While she's opened for Wilson before, this will be her first time sharing her own songs with the crowd, something she's spent hours pouring her heart and soul into to make happen.
This show marks a personal milestone for Wiggins—and she’ll also be opening once again for Wilson at an upcoming concert in Mississippi. However, this milestone wasn't made without hours of work and effort shoved into each lyrical note written down, and her journey towards this chapter of her life started much earlier than this.
Throughout her childhood, Wiggins has always had a musical connection and support system within her family. Her grandmother taught her to play the piano at the ripe age of four, followed by Wiggins eventually learning the guitar and mandolin, an instrument that closely resembles that of a lute. Her musical development was also influenced by her brother, who is not only a musician but has also served as a huge role model for Wiggins.
"My brother is one of the main people who I've always looked up to my whole life," said Wiggins, reflecting on how thankful she is to be apart of her family and the support system she has. "I learned the guitar from him, singing with him and writing with him now."
Her songwriting journey wasn’t without its challenges, though. Early on, Wiggins was afraid to write original songs, particularly because of the vulnerability it demanded. Like many artists, she struggled with perfectionism and the limitations of stereotypes in Christian and country music, striving to break free from those confines and simply be true to herself.
Often, she found herself almost running away from her musical identity, doubting whether she was mature enough to chase this lifelong dream of hers into Nashville, Tennessee. But over time, she faced those doubts head-on and stepped into her own light, discovering joy in connecting with her audience through the stories she tells—because that’s what her music truly is: the story of her life.
Through all the challenges, fears and stereotypical limitations she faced, she made it work. As an artist, she wants nothing more than to inspire, encourage and provide hope to her audience through her music, blending faith-based and country themes with her own personal touch.
