Statesboro and Bulloch County Firefighters battled an apartment fire on Sunday morning which appears to have heavily damaged one building in the complex.

At 11:08 AM on Sunday, August 6,2023 Bulloch County 911 dispatched Statesboro Fire, Bulloch County Fire, Statesboro Police and Bulloch County EMS to Pinewood Manor Apartments located at 66 Packinghouse Road inside the City of Statesboro.

The initial call came in from a neighbor that reported smoke coming from the apartment and they could not get anyone to the store.

The first firefighters on the scene reported a working structure fire with heavy smoke coming from the building and requested additional assistance.

Firefighters made an aggressive attack and used their ladder truck to access the second floor apartment window.  A search of the building confirmed no one was inside the apartment or building.

One top floor apartment, apparently where the fire originated, seemed to have most of the fire damage.  The entire building received heavy smoke, heat and water exposure.

It is not immediately clear how many people may be displaced by the fire.

Statesboro Fire Department will conduct a routine cause and origin investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
