Bulloch County and Statesboro Fire departments responded to a Christmas Eve house fire at Go-Bar Landing on the Ogeechee River. Bulloch County 911 dispatched firefighters at 12:27 PM on Saturday, December 24.
When the first firefighters arrived on the scene they reported the heavy smoke and flames coming from the home.
Bulloch County firefighters made an aggressive attack of the fire but the home was heavily involved when they arrived.
There was no one home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries reported.
According to Joe Carter, Bulloch County Fire Prevention Officer the home was a total loss. Two residents of the home have been displaced due to the fire.
An American Red Cross Disaster Action Team was requested to assist the residents.
Bulloch County EMS responded as a precaution. Bulloch County Sheriff's deputies responded to assist as well.
Cater said that Bulloch County Fire will be conducting a routine cause and origin investigation. He believes the fire may have started in a wall mounted heater.
