Newly renovated Fletcher House will be home to Camp Cherokee

Fred Fletcher Memorial Park will be a new home for Camp Cherokee this summer.

Updates and renovations to the Fred Fletcher Memorial Park on Lakeview Road at Jef Road are nearing completion, and the park will be a new home for Camp Cherokee this summer.

The newly renovated house provides comfortable areas for indoor activities, and the house is surrounded by green space.

Camp will begin at the new location on May 30. Registration is still open with spots available. Children who have completed grades PK-1st as of May 2023 are eligible to register for this location.

"We are looking forward to this new camp location that will allow children plenty of outdoor opportunities, as well as indoor rooms for play," said Kimberly Sharpe of Bulloch County Recreation and Parks Department (BCRP).

The BCRP completed a master plan for the park in 2010 to create a passive park. Updates have included the addition of a parking lot and a full renovation of the brick home on the 28-acre property, which was gifted to the county by the Fletcher family in 2007. The updates were completed on schedule.
