First Bulloch County Public Works "Touch-A-Truck" event is a blast

The Bulloch County Public Works Division successfully hosted its first “Touch-A-Truck” event on Monday, May 22.

The free community event took place at the Ag Arena in Statesboro and went from 3-7pm. The event was used to highlight the various public work departments located in Bulloch County. Tons of kids and adults attended the family event. Furthermore, each public works truck provided more information on the various responsibilities and measures taken by each department daily.

Attending departments at the "Touch-A-Truck" event were: County, City, Sheriff, and Forestry.

Specifically, participating Public Works partners were:

  • Public Works
  • Bulloch County Fire
  • Bulloch County EMS
  • Bulloch County Animal Services
  • Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office
  • City of Statesboro Police Department
  • City of Statesboro Fire Department
  • City of Statesboro Stormwater Division
  • Georgia State Patrol
  • Air Evac

Regarding the success of the event, Community Relations Manager at Bulloch County Board of Commissioners, Broni Gainous, had these words to share:

“We are excited to host this first Touch-A-Truck event for the community because kids and adults get to see their local emergency vehicles and peruse what’s inside them. This event in particular kicks off National Public Works week, alongside National EMS week. So, our Touch-A-Truck committee is elated to display all our city and county departments here today, as all departments must work together for local success.”

Bulloch County Public Works Director, Dink Butler, shared similar sentiments, stating that:

“Our goal for the Touch-A-Truck event was to provide an opportunity for the entire Bulloch County Public Works Division to reach back out to our Bulloch County community and show them the different services we have present within the community. This event also allows the public to ask questions and gain more insight into how we handle our responsibilities.”
