Family Displaced After House Fire in Bulloch County

A Register family of three has been displaced after a fire broke out at their home Friday night, June 20, 2025 in the 2800 block of Highway 46.

Bulloch County 911 received a call at 10:39 pm and dispatched both the Bulloch County Fire Department and the Statesboro Fire Department to the scene. The first Bulloch County engine arriving reported heavy fire coming from the rear of the single-story, wooden-framed house. Firefighters immediately requested additional support, including more engines and tankers.

Fortunately, it was confirmed that all occupants had safely exited the home before firefighters arrived. Bulloch County firefighters launched an aggressive attack on the blaze and were able to bring it under control within minutes. However, firefighters remained on scene for several hours to thoroughly extinguish all remaining hotspots.

The Statesboro Fire CAFE (Crisis Assistance Response) team also responded to the scene to provide support to both the firefighters and the affected family. The CAFE team contacted the American Red Cross and Bulloch Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) to arrange temporary housing for the family of three. These organizations will also connect the family with other local resources to provide further temporary assistance.

The Bulloch County Fire Department will conduct a routine investigation to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
