Exchange Club presents scholarships at 2024 ACE/Youth of the Year Banquet

The Exchange Club recently held The Youth of the Year and ACE (Accepting Challenge of Excellence) Banquet on May 7 at Uncle Shug's to celebrate outstanding local high school seniors. Guest speaker Adrian Peterson offered encouragement and inspiration to the graduates.

Guest Speaker Adrian Peterson- College Football Hall of Famer and Georgia Southern alum works as the director of student-athlete development for the Georgia Southern football program. 

Youth of the Month Honorees

  • Corey Stuckey, Portal High School
  • Anna Wellman, Southeast Bulloch High School
  • Nicholes Cortes, Statesboro High School

  • JaBrittney Tremble, Statesboro High School
  • Gabrielle Rogers, Southeast Bulloch High School

Application and Essay Presentation Honorees

  • Carter Bowman, Southeast Bulloch High School
  • Sharmere Moody, Statesboro High School
  • Eli Compton, Statesboro High School

The Youth of the Year Winner, who received a $1,500 scholarship, was Nicholes Cortes of Statesboro High School. Cortes is also the valedictorian for the SHS Class of 2024.

The Youth of the Year Runner Up, winning a $750 scholarship, was Kate Mock of Bulloch Academy.

 The ACE Winner, who takes home a $1,500 scholarship, was JaBrittney Tremble of Statesboro High School.

The ACE Runner Up and winner of a $750 scholarship was Gabrielle Rogers from Southeast Bulloch High School.

Members of the Scholarship Committee are Rhonda Busby, Lisa Glisson, Jane Hagan, Leanne Thompson, Grayson Shaw and Tracy Mallary. Members of the Banquet Committee are Tiffany Jenkins, Richard Deal, Lisa Glisson, Shelley Stringer, Tracy Mallary and Jeff Leggett.

The Statesboro Exchange Club works together as a team to help our community. We help sponsor a Youth of the Month program which ultimately entitles one high school senior to be awarded a $2,000 scholarship. We work hard throughout the year to enlighten our entire club on community needs with speakers who are working to improve our community.
