The Downtown Statesboro Development Authority is kicking off the school year with the Vyve Broadband Downtown Pep Rally on Thursday, August 7th from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the courthouse lawn.
The 2025 Vyve Downtown Pep Rally is a free public event celebrating local football teams in Bulloch County. Jim Healy, the Operations Manager of the Statesboro Herald, will introduce each of the teams as they take the stage on the courthouse steps. Southeast Bulloch High School will start the show off at 5:30 p.m., followed by Portal High School at 6:30 p.m., and Statesboro High School at 7:00 p.m.
In addition to performances by the schools’ marching bands and cheer squads, there will be local downtown shops and restaurants that participants can visit throughout the duration of the Vyve Downtown Pep Rally. Food and refreshments will be provided for the participating teams.
East Main Street will be closed at 3 p.m.
The Executive Director of the Downtown Statesboro Development Authority, Allen Muldrew, said, "This event has happened annually for over 15 years and continues to bring excitement into the community for students and adults alike.”
