The Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of Lenorace Sampson, age 23, after an investigation into the death of a 2-year-old child from Statesboro. On October 6, 2023, the Bulloch County 911 Emergency Operation Center received a call about a child not breathing. The call originated from the address of 106 Lindsay Court, Unit A, Statesboro.
Law enforcement from the Bulloch County Sheriff's Office and the Statesboro Police Department responded to the scene along with Bulloch County EMS. Lifesaving efforts by all responding personnel were unsuccessful.
After a lengthy investigation by the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office, which consisted of multiple interviews of suspects and witnesses, conversations, and meetings with the medical examiner’s office of the GBI (Pooler Office) and discussions with the District Attorney’s Office (Ogeechee Circuit), the case was presented to a grand jury for the Superior Court of Bulloch County.
Grand jurors did find a true bill indictment vs. Lenorace Sampson for the criminal offenses listed below. The death of the child was determined to have been caused by blunt force trauma. Sampson is now facing charges including two counts of felony murder, two counts of cruelty to children in the 1st degree, and aggravated assault (family violence).
