East Georgia State College is now accepting applications for the Correll Scholars Program. High school students graduating in the Spring of 2021 are encouraged to apply for the full tuition scholarship by November 30, 2020.
The scholarship awards $5,000 per student, renewable annually, for a maximum of four years. Each year EGSC awards 20 scholarships. Students who apply must plan to attend East Georgia State College’s Swainsboro campus. Correll Scholars who meet eligibility requirements and continue their studies as a junior or senior in a baccalaureate degree program at EGSC will be given first consideration for subsequent year awards. Students must attain qualifying enrollment status to receive subsequent year funding: “sophomore” for year two, “junior” for year three, and “senior” for year four.
Students applying for the scholarship will be asked to submit an essay and two letters of recommendation. If students have not already been accepted into EGSC, they are allowed to apply for the scholarship, but they must be accepted following completion of the application to receive the scholarship. Once the applications are received, members of the Correll Scholars Program Selection Committee will review all completed applications and essays. A list of finalists will be selected and invited for interviews by the committee. Final selection of Correll Scholars will be based upon committee approval. Notification of recipients will be made by the middle of December for Scholars entering the following Fall Semester.

The Correll Scholars Program was established in 2014 by Mr. and Mrs. Pete Correll to recognize and prepare exceptionally promising students as future community leaders in our region. Students are chosen based on demonstrated scholarship, leadership and service. Rigorous program standards include participation in a one-hour credit course each semester that focuses on issues and challenges facing our region and work collaboratively to design solutions for those challenges. Students will also participate in service leadership programs and act as ambassadors for the college.
