The gloomy weather didn't stop hundreds from celebrating Anderson's General Store's Chick Day on March 2, 2024.
The annual event included opportunities to see and pet dozens of varieties of chicks and ducklings, hold bunnies, watch a chicken show featuring chicken races and a piano-playing rooster, crack cascarones—a Mexican tradition of confetti-filled eggs--enjoy specialty food trucks, and more!
Anderson's a hub for family, farm, and garden
With annual events that bring families together for seasonal celebrations, Anderson's offers opportunities for kids of all ages to experience nature, enjoy the outdoors, and come face to face with farm animals and fun activities—like the pumpkin toss at their annual fall Old Farm Day event.
Anderson's staff works tirelessly to bring these events to life for the community with the goal of promoting wholesome family fun.
Participants didn't have to look far to see the excitement of little ones who were holding rabbits and petting chicks or bouncing in the bounce house, thanks to 4-H.
4-H, Rabbits, Poultry Palace, Cascarones and more
From bunnies to the bounce house, there were plenty of activities for all. Highlights for the crowd included a bunny tent filled with hay and small rabbits, perfect for children of all ages to find and snuggle, the Poultry Palace chicken show which features rescued chickens, many exquisite, that have been lovingly cared for and tamed by owners Joseph and Tabatha Puiszis of Albany, Georgia, for educational outings like these.
Attendees also enjoyed a table of cascarones by Lori Pollard. These hand-painted, hollow eggs are filled with biodegradable confetti. They are a popular Mexican Easter tradition and added fun and sparkle to Saturday's event.
And of course, the stars of the show: the chicks! Friendly staff helped children and adults gently pet the sweet younglings, while providing information about them.
Thank you, Anderson's, for a fun-filled day for all!
