This week, Governor Brian P. Kemp announced the appointment of Statesboro’s Doug Lambert to the State Board of the Technical College System of Georgia.  He is replacing retired Statesboro banker Tommy David.

"I would like to thank Governor Kemp for appointing me to the Technical College System of Georgia board. I also appreciate the support of local elected officials and community leaders, especially retiring board member, Tommy David.  Tommy has been a long standing and dedicated advocate for technical education in Georgia," said Doug Lambert.

"Technical education has been an important part of Georgia’s overall education system for many years. I believe it will be more important than ever as our state, and particularly our region, transitions into the more technical and higher paying jobs associated with recently announced industrial projects.  I look forward to representing the 12th Congressional District on the TCSG board."

Lambert is a businessman and entrepreneur who founded Southeastern Hospitality Services Inc., which built eight hotels in Statesboro and Savannah. Prior to opening his business, he worked at Franklin Equities, Inc., where he spent 25 years and led the operation of several hotels and restaurants across the southeast.

During his long and dedicated career in the hospitality industry, Lambert served on the American Hotel & Motel Association, the Georgia Travel and Hospitality Association, the Staybridge Suites National Advisory Board, and other industry organizations.

Lambert attended what is now Georgia Southern University where he earned a BBA in Marketing. He and his wife, Karen, live in Statesboro and have five children and six grandchildren.
